Royal Academy summer show: prizes for Threefold Architects and Tonkin Liu

A pencil and charcoal sketch of a new lavender farm in the South Downs National Park, built from materials found on the forest site, has won the top award for architecture at this year's Royal Academy summer exhibition. The 'beautiful [and] expressive' hand-drawn design by Threefold Architects, entitled From Forest to Fagade, A Woodlands Survey, was awarded the £5,000 Rocco Forte Hotels architecture prize. Curated by Foster + Partners' head of design, Spencer de Grey, the 2019 show at the Piccadilly institution focused on sustainable projects.
