Case study: linked rooflights at Artemis Barn by CE+CA

In the heart of the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire is the beautiful village of Castleton. Surrounded by steeps hills, Castleton sits at the foot of the ruins of Peveril Castle. Artemis Barn was originally built for agriculture and remained in use for more than 250 years before falling derelict in the 1990s. Determined to give the building a new life, the clients commissioned architecture practice CE+CA to convert what remained of the stone barn into an innovative family home. Strict planning restrictions meant each element of the refurbishment would be scrutinised by planners.
