Addressing a slowdown in its growth rate to 5.8% in 2008-09 from 7.5% in 2007-08 (July-June), the freshly-anointed Pakistan government increased its Budgetary expenditure for 2008-09 by 29.7% compared with last fiscal year's 2,01,000 crores Pakistani Rupees (PKR). One Indian rupee (INR) can be exchanged for 1.62 PKR. Pakistan's Budget expects revenue collections to increase by 23.1 % to PKR 1,10,000 crores for the next financial yar beginning July w, compared with last financial year. While the share of current expenditure has been cut down by 1.5%, spends on development projects have been raised by 20%. However, current expenditure, estimated at PKR 1,50,000 crores, still accounts for 74.3 % of the total budgetary outlay. PKR55,000 crores has been allocated for development projects.
