July 8th will be dedicated to mother of Textile Cotton at 'Cotton day'

A world without cotton is unimaginable. As the most important fibre crop globally, cotton has had a cherished history dating back to centuries. In the Indian context cotton is considered not just a mere textile product, for it has played a key role in shaping its political and social culture. Cotton is without any doubt the mother of the textile industry. However, it is quite strange that for all its history, cotton has had a rather low profile existence. While several dates are celebrated as 'Women's Day', 'Father's Day', 'Valentine's Day' ,'Yoga Day', "No Tobacco Day' etc, it is indeed quite strange that no date had been fixed for celebrating the great virtues of cotton. Not any longer, for 8th July is going to be celebrated as 'Cotton Day'.
