Developments in Short Staple Yarn Manufacture

Most spinning machinery makers were cautious about where the spinning industry is going, both technologically and geographically. Almost all manufacturers agreed that this was not the show for innovations or new developments, but many claimed that at the next ITMA (in 2003) they would have something radically new to show. In reviewing the changes since the previous ITMA, it is difficult to predict what new technologies will emerge. This, however, may be better known when the following questions can be answered: 1. Is Vortex spinning good enough? 2. Will interest in ring spinning continue to dominate? 3. Will compact spinning succeed? 4. How fast can rotor spinning go? 5. Does centrifugal spinning have a future?
