China's spandex production capacity has expanded rapidly, from 25,100 tons in 2001 to 312,100 tons in 2008 -a compound annual growth rate of 43.34%, accounting for 60% of current total world capacity.rnPushed by the high profit, spandex production capacity in 2007 and 2008 expanded continuously, but this, and the global financial crisis, have led to large price falls from the highest point of 95,000 yuan/ton (£8,550) in 2007 to 40,000 yuan/ton (£3,600) in early 2009. The figures, from a report by Research and Markets, show that the ratio of annual spandex production capacity to price trend has been similar in recent years, reaching 77.48% in 2007.
