Narrow fabric technology specialist Jakob Miiller, celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, had an early entry into the Chinese market, beginning production there in 1997. It plans to open a new, larger plant on 8 June this year in Suzhou to produce machinery mainly for China and the Far East. Sales of machines produced locally in China have risen to more than 1000 units annually. Jakob Miiller's Raschelina warp knitting machines are manufactured exclusively at its Chinese facility and have seen export success around the world, as have its Varitex looms. Mainly mechanical machines are manufactured in China.
