Designers, suppliers and garment makers largely operate as separate entities within the fashion supply chain. Industry players utilise various technologies and consume copious resources to generate some level of communication efficiency when managing the production flow of new collections. Rooted in tradition, many of these manufacturing and sales processes remain offline or are fragmented across companies that use different ways of operating. Subsequently, lagging market awareness and long lead times are consequences of the time and costs expended from such a disorganised design and manufacturing process. And transparency in fashion is practically non-existent now, too, says Andrea Fiume, founder and CEO of BSAMPLY. Following a long career as a product manager in the fashion industry, Fiume can draw these conclusions from experience. In 2017, while he was living in LA, US, he launched BSAMPLY in order to develop a solution that he’d ‘been looking for for years’.
