Coimbatore will never lose its charm

If you visit Manchester now, you will find a sleepy little town with a worn-out look. All those glorious days of textiles have gone. Many of those mills are now converted into godown for other industries, and it is like any other British town and nothing great to boast of. So when someone says Coimbatore is the Manchester of India, I feel it is out of context. A native of Coimbatore, I don't like the city, considered one among the most vibrant in India, being compared with a "once upon a time" city. Yes, it is true. Many of the spinning units are getting closed and the existing ones are finding it very difficult to compete with the spinning units in other areas.
