Effects of soaps and detergents on crease recovery of cotton fabrics

The appropriateness of a costume, quality, style, neatness and cleanliness in clothing helps to build self-confidence and even a sense of security. Thus, if clothes are neat and clean, one unconsciously has a feeling of well-being, which contributes to the happiness of an individual. And, therefore, it cannot be denied that good grooming helps to create a favourable impression and build self-confidence. One can achieve the neatness, cleanliness and hygiene in clothing by proper laundering. It requires suitable cleansing agents which are capable of removing dirt, soils and stains with a minimum change in colour, dimension and strength of the laundered articles. Interestingly, cleansing agents also affect certain properties of the fabric. Moreover, consumers, especially in rural areas, have less knowledge about the ill-effects which these soaps and detergents can cause to their fabrics. Therefore, a study was carried out on the effects of soaps and detergents on crease recovery of cotton fabrics.
