New Centers of Excellence in Technical Textiles

The Indian Government has announced creation of four new centers of excellence in technical textiles as part of the Technology Mission on Technical Textiles (TMTT). Total investment on the centers will be about Rs. 98 crores ($22 million) for a period of three years. Mr. Anil Joshi, Textile Commissioner, told this scribe that the Project Advisory Committee under the chairpersonship of the Textile Secretary met on March 18 and selected the four new centers. Phase I money will be released once the designated centers establish suitable launch vehicle to execute the program.
