摘要

The activity of alkaline phosphatase is conspicuous in all the developmental stage of midgut of Bombyx mori. In the midgut of premature stage all the three cells i.e. columnar, goblet and regenerative cells revealed an intense alkaline phosphatase activity. Since maximum feeding occurs at this stage, high protein turnover is expected and therefore the intense enzymatic activity in all these cells seems to reflect an active participation of the enzyme in such a proces. The enzyme also helps in maintenance of cells and transporting the material through plasma membrane. The mature and prepupal stages are characterized by a low profile of metabolic turnover and at this stage moderate activity of alkaline phosphatase is understood.
