Based on the algorithm developed by Wulfhorst and Olbrich, a theoretical model was developed by Stucker, Vei and Laourine at the ITA within the AiF-sponsored project AiF 8752, which allowed the accurate calculation of the yarn tension before and after the false twister depending on the machine settings. Calculations of the yarn tension with the theoretical model showed that the yarn tension does not decrease linearly over the disk width but follows a course as shown in Fig. 1 (upper graph).
