Diamond Jubilee of Association of Merchants & Manufacturers of Textile Stores & Machinery (India): No Mindless Fascination for imported machines says B K Patodia

The Inaugural Function of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the Association of Merchants & Manufacturers of Textile Stores & Machinery (India) was held 18th February 2003 at the M.C. Ghia Hall of the Association in Mumbai. Mr B.K. Patodia, Dy. Chairman, TEXPROCIL and Vice-Chairman & Managing Director, GTN Textiles Ltd., was the Chief Guest. Mr. Kirti Rathod, President, in his welcome speech traced the history of the Association for six decades and said that the Association was formed in the midst of Second World War and represented at that time the Bombay merchants who imported textile machinery, spares, dyes, chemicals, etc. for supply to textile industry. The main function of the Association during those days was to interact with the various Departments of the Government concerned with administration of controls, as almost all the items used in the textile industry were subject to price and distribution controls.
