It can be seen at a glance through the microscope: the structure of ring yarns is completely different from that of rotor yarns. The way the fibres are bound into the yam body differes and there are differences in the orientation and straightening-out of the individual fibres. These structural differences are the cause of the different textile-technological properties of ring and rotor yarns, but also ― unfortunately ― of misconception in the evaluation of yarns in the textile practice. The same is true for the yarn twist. A ring yarn with 600 turns per meter does not readily compare with a rotor yarn with 600 turns per meter. In the yarn core, the fibres in rotor yarns are twisted in the same way as the fibres in ring yarns. The straightening-out and orientation of the fibres are nearly identical.
