Mayer & Cie of Albstadt, (near Stuttgart), Germany is a company which has done extremely well in the Indian textile industry. Numerous textile mills in India have installed Mayer & Cie knitting machines. The Indian textile industry, which is now undertaking a US$ 40 billion expansion and modernization programme could focus its attention on Mayer & Cie knitting machines for producing value added. India's textile industry has 3,000 textile mills, with 35 million spindles and is a major exporter of cotton yarn. The focus has now changed to produce value added and hence, Mayer & Cie knitting machines have a great potential for increasing knitting machines exports to India.
