German Textile Machinery 2005: Exports Reached 3.4 Billion Euro

Despite a slight decrease of exports by 5.3 % in 2005, Germany has been able to maintain its position as leading supplier of textile machinery and accessories in the world. The annual exports reached 3.4 billion Euro. The textile world is ever changing. Effects of globalisation not only influence the global economy but also the German export markets which have shifted considerably in recent years. America has regained importance reaching a market share of 17.2 %, accounting a turnover of 587 million Euro in 2005 (North America +25.5%, South America +53.7 %). In contrast, the Asian market is still strong but has shrunk by 7.6 %. However, with a share of 46 % and a turnover of 1.6 billion Euro, Asia led the list of German expon in 2005. The EU export market declined by 7.9 % whereas other European marker including Turkey dropped by 17.3 %. The turnover of 1.1 billion Euro in Europ represents a market share of 33.3 %.
