A yarn for coloured denim in many designs

The specialty yarns manufacturer, Tuscorora Yarns Inc of North Carolina, USA, has started offering a new yarn called ProTura Cotton for producing coloured denim. It is made from cat-ionic cotton fibre that Tuscorora developed in cooperation with the US-based Tintoria Piana US, Inc., which provides cationic cotton treatment that allows cotton to be dyed without salt or soda ash at low temperatures. This cationic yarn is said to enable textile mills to reduce chemicals, water and energy usage up to 50% in the dyeing process. Blending regular cotton with Protura cotton allows designers and product developers a fast, flexible and more sustainable manufacturing process to create heather, pin-striping and bi-colour effects in garments.
