A nylon yarn that can render fabrics made of it suitable for digital printing with significant saving of dyeing cost has been developed by the Italian yarn and fabric producer Carvico. The cost savings come mainly from the use of less dyeing recipes than other fabrics, thus reduced energy consumption. This yarn called ECONYL made of regenerated nylon 6 also maintains all the good properties of polyamide in nylon, such as high tensile strength, elasticity, resistance to chemical abrasion. Guangzhou-based printing company Priwell, for instance, has experimented printing on fabrics made of ECONYL yarns and found the result satisfactory, according to its creative director Lennon Mui.
