Card and its effect on yarn quality

Settings in high speed cards affect the quality of sliver produced. Therefore, settings need to be optimised for specific performance. This study explores the various options. Advanced Fibre Information instrument has helped us a lot in optimising the process parameters at carding without compromising the productivity. Also, significant improvement in yarn quality is noticed. Still there is scope to optimise the process parameters in further processes, and our work is in progress. Changing the settings at card can have positive effect on some, and negative effect on other performance criteria. We need to optimise the settings with respect to specific performance criteria. Mills processing same cotton for same count may be working with different parameters and may be happy with the results. There may be so many reasons for the same, type of wire clothing, wire density, pre-carding treatment, etc. We have tried to test only some delicate settings on the card for certain specific purpose. It has helped us a lot in improving quality of yarn.
