The large gastropod species, peruviella dolium (Roemer 1849) occurs in the Walnut Formation in the city of Gatesville, Texas. Stratigraphic relations show that the beds Containing P. dolium are limestones overlying the clastic sandstones of the Paluxy Formation, And underlying Texigryphaea oyster banks of the Walnut Formation. The paleocommunity Dominated by P. dolium defines a specific nearshore environment that existed on both sides Of the Cretaceous Tethyan seawayi.
