HELMINTH PARASITES OF UNISEXUAL AND BISEXUAL WHIPTAIL LIZARDS (TEIIDAE) IN NORTH AMERICA. X. THE WESTERN MARBLED WHIPTAIL (CNEMIDOPHORUS TIGRIS MARMORATUS)

Forty-eight western marbled whiptails, Cnemidophorus tigris marmoratus from Presidio and Terrell counties, Texas, USA, were collected and examined for helminth parasites. Twenty-nine (60%) were infected with at least one helminth species, including two (4%) with Mesocestoides sp. tetrathyridia, three (6%) with third-stage larval Physaloptera sp., six (13%) with oligacanthorhynchid acanthocephalan cystacanths, six (13%) with Oochoristica bivitellobata, one (2%) with Parathelandros texanus and 16 (33%) with Pharyngodon warneri. Multiple infections were found in five (10%) of the whiptails. This report, the tenth in a series on helminths of the teiid genus Cnemidophorus, reports new host records for four helminths of C. tigris marmoratus.
