REPRODUCTION IN GERRHONOTUS OPHIURUS (SAURIA: ANGUIDAE), FROM VERACRUZ, MEXICO

Gerrhonotus ophiurus Cope occurs in the Mexican states of Hidalgo, Queretaro, San Luis Potosi and Veracruz (Good 1994). To the authors' knowledge, the only report on reproduction in this species is by Mendoza Quijano & Schmidt Ballardo (1995) who reported a clutch of ten eggs and maternal care for a female G. ophiurus from San Luis Potosi. The purpose of this paper is to provide additional information on the reproductive biology of a population of G. ophiurus from Veracruz, Mexico.
