The function of relays and circuit breakers in the operation of a power system is to prevent or limit damage during faults or overloads (for more than the permitted time), and to minimize their effects on the remaining system. Relays perform this duty silently and most effectively provided their selection and setting have correctly been done. In fact, it is a science and an art as well. In this article, efforts have been made to explain the relay setting and it's related terms.
