Video over IP or IPTV is the new technology that is leading a revolution in the service communication ecosystem. Significant investment is being made to design and deploy new triple-play services, headed by IPTV and video-on-demand (VoD), and complemented by VoIP and data services. Competitive, political, technological and regulatory activities are driving the growth of triple-play services. MSOs (multi-service operators or cable companies) already offer video and data over their cable infrastructure and are rapidly adding voice over IP (VoIP) to create a full triple-play bundle that is attracting new customers.
