The CASPs allow broadband carriers to transform into full-fledged Internet Communication Carriers (ICCs) that can provide a wide range of services including voice, data, and video over their broadband links. With CASP outsourcing, this can be achieved without installing new software on client desktops. CASPs are tasked with providing customers with the latest communications technology on a leased basis, such as conferencing on demand, Internet-based video chat and Web-based events. They have the potential to do extremely well in the market because customers will not be required to purchase costly telecom equipment that becomes obsolete, and they will not need armies of technical people to configure and reconfigure closets filled with telecom equipment.
