Representatives of several radio frequency identification (RFID) technology and service providers agreed with government and watchdog group officials at a recent event that tight safeguards on data security and consumer privacy — and efforts to educate policy-makers and the public on the efficacy of those safeguards — were of overriding importance to public acceptance of a wider adoption of RFID technologies.
