Video Fees, Updating FTEs Debated in Reg Fees Docket

Cable TV system operators and direct broadcast TV providers disagree as to whether the FCC should apply per-subscriber regulatory fees to all video service providers, while telcos are calling for the Commission to update its method of accounting for employee time in regulating various industry sectors. Parties offered their views in comments filed in Managing Director docket 08-65, in response to a further notice of proposed rulemaking released in August. The National Cable & Telecommunications Association urged the FCC to "use a subscriber-based formula for all providers of voice service and all multichannel video programming distributors."
