摘要

During a Nov. 16 hearing, House Judiciary Committee members from both sides of the aisle disparaged Google, Inc., for resisting the current version of online copyright protection legislation that would enlist Internet service providers and other intermediaries in attempts to cut off "rogue" websites that facilitate copyright infringement. However, there were also a few members - again, a bipartisan group - who expressed either opposition to the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) (HR 3261) or concern about some of its provisions and invited Google and other opponents to provide suggestions for legislative language or specific recommendations to improve the bill. A Google official was the only one of six witnesses at the hearing who opposed the bill in its current form.
