Europe Adopts Tougher Cyber Crime Penalties

The European Parliament has adopted tougher penalties for cyber crimes. The draft directive was adopted on a 541-91 vote, with nine abstentions, and is expected to be formally adopted by the Council of Ministers "very shortly." Once adopted, member states would have two years to transpose the penalties into national law.
