Daniel Looks for 2015 For Cybersecurity Legislation

Michael Daniel, special assistant to President Obama and cybersecurity coordinator at the White House, said Dec. 2 that he does not think that Congress will do much on major cybersecurity legislation between now and the end of 2014, but that it should be able to hit the ground running in 2015. Speaking at an event organized by the Wall Street Journal, Mr. Daniel said that while he continued to hope for congressional action before the end of this year, it was "hard for me to see how they can get closure on the more controversial pieces" of legislation by then, such as efforts to promote greater sharing of cyber threat data between the private sector and the government.
