Parties Ask FCC to Deny Licenses To Dish AWS-3 Bidding Partners

A number of parties, including the Communications Workers of America and the NAACP as well as three small auction players, have asked the FCC not to grant more than 700 AWS (advanced wireless serviees)-3 licenses to two small entities that had bidding arrangements with Dish Network Corp. in the Commission's AWS-3 auction and in which Dish says it has 85% noncontrolling interests. The parties are targeting SNR Wireless LicenseCo LLC and Northstar Wireless LLC, which bid a combined $13.3 billion for 702 licenses and are seeking 25% bidding credits as "designated entities" (DEs), which would allow them to get a discount of $3.3 billion. The entities and Dish have said they complied with the FCC's rules.
