Strickling: U.S. Delay of IANA Transition Could Put Internet Freedom at Risk

Lawrence E. Strickling, the head of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, says that while his agency is prepared to adjust the schedule for turning its stewardship of the IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) to the multistakeholder community if the community or the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers says more time is needed, any delay initiated by the U.S. government could well put Internet freedom at risk.
