Defense Bill Would Require Update of DoD Cyber Strategy

A defense authorization bill that would require the Defense Department to update its 2015 strategy for cyberspace operations and push DoD to consider whether deterrence could help prevent cyber conflict cleared the Senate on Sept. 18 by a vote of 89-8. The National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2018 (HR 2810) goes further than NDAAs of recent years in seeking clarity from DoD about the use of cyber capabilities during armed conflicts.
