FCC, Hawaii Probe False Ballistic Missile Alert

Hawaiian officials and the FCC are probing false Emergency Alert System and wireless emergency alert (WEA) notifications sent Jan. 13 that warned of an imminent ballistic missile attack. Of particular concern was the fact that it took 38 minutes to correct the WEA error even though officials realized almost immediately that the alert was sent in error.
