NTIA Announces $288 Million To Expand Broadband Access

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) will make $288 million in grant funding available to expand broadband infrastructure around the country through a competitive application process, the agency said May 19. Funding for the grant program came from the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, which was passed by Congress in late December (TR, Jan. 8). The legislation included $900 billion in COVID-19 pandemic funds, including $7 billion for broadband programs.
