EWA Asks FCC to Lift Freeze on T-Band Spectrum

The Enterprise Wireless Alliance has asked the FCC to lift its T-band spectrum freeze in the wake of the recent revocation by Congress of a mandate that public safety T-band spectrum be reallocated and auctioned. Congress rescinded the mandate in a legislative package that included a fiscal year 2021 appropriations omnibus and COVID-19 stimulus legislation (see separate story). In a recent filing in PS docket 13-42, the EWA asked the Commission "to lift the T-Band Freeze as promptly as possible, but to do so in a way that allows T-Band incumbents the opportunity to implement system upgrades and expansions that have been denied them for almost a decade before opening this spectrum to new entities." EWA recommended a two-phase process.
