FCC Moves on Huawei,China Telecom Security Matters

In separate national security actions taken unanimously the FCC's Dec. 10 meeting, the Commission launched a proceeding that could lead to the revocation of China Telecom (Americas) Corp.'s section 214 authorizations to provide domestic and international services in the U.S., and affirmed the designation of Huawei Technologies as a national security threat to U.S. communications networks.The FCC had listed both items merely as "national security matters" on its tentative and sunshine agenda the FCC's Dec. 10 meeting, treating them similarly to enforcement actions taken against individual companies.
