Rep. Walden to Retire At End of Current Congress

Rep. Greg Walden (R., Ore.), former chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and current ranking member of the committee, announced Oct. 28 that he will not seek reelection in 2020. A former broadcaster, Rep. Walden was first elected to Congress in 1998. "At the end of this term, I will have devoted 30 years to the important calling of public service; of helping bring people together to solve problems and leave our communities, our beautiful state and our great nation better off for the next generation," Rep. Walden said in a video statement, noting many of the issues he has worked on in that time, including increasing access to high-speed broadband.
