FCC Extends Caller ID Spoofing Ban toTexting, Foreign Calls

The FCC has unanimously adopted rules extending prohibitions on caller ID spoofing to text messages, alternative services such as one-way VoIP (voice-over-Internet protocol) service, and calls to U.S. phone numbers that originate outside the U.S. The second report and order in WC dockets 18-335 and 11-39 adopted at the agency's Aug. 1 meeting implements provisions of the RAY BAUM'S Act of 2018.
