VoIP peering: exchanges in Europe poised for launch

Of the two companies planning to roll out voice-over-IP (VoIP) peering services in Europe this year, Stealth Communications of the US, which already offers VoIP peering in its home market, is likely to be the first. Stealth plans to launch VoIP-to-VoIP and VoIP-to-PSTN peering in the UK by March, says Shrihari Pandit, the company's CEO. Though rival XCon-nect would not be drawn on when its VoIP-to-VoIP exchange will be up and running, its launch is also understood to be imminent and it has already signed up potential participants, according to Eli Katz, the company's CEO and founder (TM, 13 Jul, 2004).
