Incumbent builds a network to carry digital terrestrial TV signals

Swedish vendor Net Insight is to supply an undisclosed incumbent with a next-generation SDH (NG-SDH) platform as part of its plans to carry digital terrestrial television, or DTT, traffic for its customers. The vendor would not name the incumbent, but says its service will be operational in the first quarter of 2005, distributing DTT signals for 10 of its broadcaster customers. The incumbent in question will collect the DTT terrestrial signal from broadcasters and then distribute it via its NG-SDH network to their regional transmission networks, which then deliver the signal to homes via a rooftop aerial.
