摘要

Although most of eastern Europe is still lagging behind western Europe in terms of broadband penetration, Slovenia has continued its strong growth and now ranks above the 43% western European average with 313,001 subscribers (see fig.). But a divide has grown in eastern Europe as a handful of countries outpace the rest, which are still far below western European subscription rates. In 2Q06,45.7% of Slovenian households had broadband access, a higher proportion than the western European average of 42.9%. About a quarter of Slovenian broadband subscriptions are cable connections, with DSL making up the rest. Slovenia therefore continued its high level of quarterly growth in terms of connected households, which has remained above 4% since its 7.3% peak in 1Q05.
