Deutsche Telekom's plans to team up with rivals to roll out next-generation-access networks are broader than previously reported. The German incumbent is talking to a number of major operators about sharing the burden of rolling out VDSL across Germany, say sources close to the negotiations. The operator's cost-saving plan would enable it to gain access to a rival's VDSL network in certain cities rather than having to deploy its own. In return, it would offer competitors access to its own VDSL network.
