Deutsche Telekom downbeat on dual-mode and femtocells

Deucsche Telekom is unlikely to launch dual-mode fixed/mobile-convergence (FMC) services outside the US, says a senior executive at the German incumbent. The lack of support from the world's fifth-largest mobile operator is a blow to operators and vendors pinning their hopes on dual-mode FMC securing industry-wide backing. Deutsche Telekom's thinking has been informed by its experience of offering dual-mode services in Germany, says Jorg Berthold, senior manager of FMC in the country.
