Swisscom still dominates DSL, but TV proving tough

Switzerland's alternative operators still pose a minor threat to Swisscom, but the incumbent's attempt to challenge cable's TV dominance is faring little better. Swiss incumbent Swisscom provides fixed, mobile, Internet and TV services via its own networks, which include ADSL and VDSL. The government of Switzerland retains a 52% stake in the company, but the country's Federal Council is drawing up a report on the pros and cons of further privatisation, which Swisscom expects the Council to present to parliament later this year.
