Get ready to fork over some extra cash to Verizon on your next bill. The carrier raised its property tax surcharge to 3.0% from 2.5%, starting Oct. 1. It's a whopping 20% increase in the fee. The charge is assessed on the usage- and non-usage-based components of non-regulated intrastate, interstate and international telecom services as well as Internet, enhanced and other non-telecom services - virtually all of the services bought by enterprises. The fee is applied after discounts and credits are factored in, according to Verizon's service guide, which documents the terms, prices and fees that apply to the carrier's services.
