No single provider dominates the European market. Rather, providers have formed partnerships and alliances, explains Ben Fox, London-based managing director of TechCaliber Consulting. Here's a primer on the four main carriers/alliances: Vodafone, based in Newbury, England, has the most comprehensive global presence, with a network spanning 25 countries and partners that service another 38 countries. FreeMove Alliance is the next-most established alliance, Fox says. Its members are Orange, Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM), T-Mobile and TeliaSonera. Combined, they service 28 countries.
