Comment on 'Late Cenozoic reorganization of the Arabia-Eurasia collision and the comparison of short-term and long-term deformation rates' by M. Allen, J. Jackson, and R. Walker

摘要

Many difficulties are apparent regarding the Allen et al. [2004] interpretation of the convergent zone between Arabia and Eurasia. I touch on only three: their estimates of the rates and durations of slip on strike-slip fault zones; their deductions regarding relationships between vertical and horizontal crustal motions; and relationships between the observed deformation and crustal rheology.
