Don't let disputes over royalty splits, inventorship spoil TTO relationships

It can take many years for a discovery to make it to the marketplace, so it is always a great day when the royalties start rolling in. But when an innovation has many fathers, perhaps from multiple institutions, disputes can arise over how to divide up the earnings. This can and does happen despite what it may say in contracts or agreements, and even though the matter may have been "settled" years earlier. And long, expensive court battles can certainly put a dent on those royalties.
